The Beginning
Treasured Home’s story begins long before its name was ever established.
In the mid-1990s, Bill and Dottie Basye felt a deep calling to respond to the growing need for foster care in Idaho. Acting on that calling, they partnered with the Department of Health and Welfare to create a place where children in crisis could experience safety, stability, and love.
In 1996, The Shepherd’s Home was incorporated in McCall, Idaho. By the spring of 1998, it became a fully operational home—serving children in crisis and offering a foundation for healing, structure, and hope.
What started as one step of faith became a model for what compassionate, consistent care could look like.
The Present
Over the years, The Shepherd’s Home became a trusted refuge for children and families. As Bill and Dottie later relocated to the Treasure Valley, the vision to bring that same model to a new community began to take shape.
After Bill’s passing in 2018, that vision did not fade—it deepened.
With the support of Friendship Celebration Lutheran Church and a committed group of leaders, Treasured Home was officially established in 2019. A mission was defined, a board was formed, and a renewed calling began to take root.
From there, steady progress followed—becoming a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 2020, expanding leadership in the years after, and continuing to build a strong foundation for long-term impact.
In November 2025, Treasured Home reached a major milestone by securing its first home.
In January 2026, house parents were identified.
And by March 2026, they were officially licensed—marking the moment when vision became reality.
Today, Treasured Home is actively preparing to welcome children into a safe, stable, Christ-centered home.
The need is urgent. Over 1,000 children in the Treasure Valley are currently in foster care, many experiencing constant transitions without lasting stability. Across Idaho, that number approaches 2,000, with thousands more impacted by abuse and neglect each year.
Treasured Home exists to step into that gap—providing not just shelter, but consistency, trust, and a place where children can begin to heal and truly belong.
At the same time, through generous donations, funds are being faithfully stewarded to one day build a fully dedicated Treasured Home—a long-term vision that will allow for expanded care, full staffing, and deeper support for every child who walks through its doors.
The Future
Looking ahead, Treasured Home is committed to growing with intention.
The goal is to expand by renting or purchasing additional homes, replicating the same proven model—carefully selecting, training, and supporting house parents who can provide consistent, loving care.
Each new home represents more than expansion.
It represents another child experiencing stability.
Another story rewritten.
Another life given the chance to heal.
Treasured Home is more than an organization.
It is a calling being lived out—one home, one child, and one faithful step at a time.
